Short version: we report what public documents say, we show our sources, we label every ad, and we fix mistakes in the open.
Sources
Facts about a company come from documents you can check: its published prices, fees and account terms, and government and regulator publications such as the Canada Revenue Agency's rules for registered plans. Where a figure is our own calculation, we say how we worked it out.
Bylines
Stories carry the byline of our editorial desk. A named contributor's byline would appear only on work that person wrote or substantially edited and approved.
How drafts are made
We use AI tools to help research and draft. Every published piece is edited and checked by a person before it goes live, and the facts in it are checked against the sources above.
Independence from advertisers
Advertisers and affiliate partners do not review, edit or approve our stories before publication. Payment can affect which companies we cover and where they appear on our site.
Dates and updates
Every story shows when it was first published and when it was last updated.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the page and say what changed. Tell us about an error through our contact page.
